Playing Cards - Maths

Today I will be blogging about what I played with the cards. Today I played the multiplication game, I played it with my friend Faith. You can visit her blog by clicking the link. Blog. 

How we played the multiplication game was by using the Kings, Queens and Jacks as the elevens and twelves. And after that we started challenging each other by seeing who could get the right answer correct. So say that I was the dealer and I had to flip 2 cards and say it was a 2 and queen (11), so then it will be 2 x 11 = then we had to equal it and the answer will be 22 and if you get the answer before the other person then you get the cards that have been flip and then you repeat the same thing but with 2 other cards.
If it is a tie then we you have to leave it aside and do another question and if one of you got the answer then you get the cards aside and also the current cards that you just answered.
I really enjoyed doing this game and I learnt most of my times tables.

Times Tables - Maths Survivors

IALT: find an efficient way to solve my times tables.

Today I will be blogging about what I learnt during this week for maths. What I have been doing is learning my multiplication facts and trying to use a brainer way to figure it out to get the right answer.

One of the questions that my friend gave me was 111 x 111. A way I tried to figure it out was by doing this...

I think I have gotten it wrong but I will need to wait until I show my nana to check if I have it right because she is the master at maths in my family. I tried to figure this out by using an old way of doing the answers and I think I have done a good job. 

I have enjoyed doing something different compared to what I normally do with my multiplication facts.

Maths - Learning Times Tables - T3W2 2017

IALT: practice my multiplication and division facts.

Today I will be blogging about what I have been learning for the past few days this week for Maths.
I have been learning my 5, 2, 3, and also 4 times tables. I had to write down 10 mixed up times tables and I had to time myself of how well I know my times tables. The first strip of times tables was: 4 x 2, 3 x 2, 2 x 7, 2 x 9, 5 x 2, 2 x 1, 0 x 2, 2 x 2, 6 x 2 and 2 x 8. I got 20s in the beginning and I had to try again to try beat my high score put it took 22s. I had tried my best and I think I have been getting better at it.

Every week I am going to try get the answers way faster than that. I will achieve on doing my 7, 8, 9, 11 and also 12 times tables.

Maths Games - T2W7 2017

WALT: use different math symbols to get the right answers.

Today I will be blogging what I did for maths today. What I did for maths today was learn different math games to do by using cards or different materials. We were splitted up in groups of 5 and in my group there was Leilani, Monita and also Aletheia, what we used to do our maths with was with cards. 

What we did with the cards was play a multiplication game which we have to have one person which has to put 2 cards in the middle for example "5 and 3" so then we had to times it so it would be " 5x4" which would equal 20 sothe rest of the group has to try figure out what the answer is and who ever says the right answer gets the 2 cards and when all the cards are finished we had to start all over again but have another person put down the 2 cards.

What I learnt from this math game was my 9 and 7 timetables.

What I enjoyed was seeing my group trying their best and also myself try and figure out what the answer to the question is.

What I found challenging was trying to get the right answer instantly and try get the high score.

IALT: understand different ways to use fractions.

Tonight I will be blogging about what I done for maths. The first question from the task that I was given was, "Max cut his birthday cake into 8 pieces. 7/8 of the cake was eaten.

A: How many pieces were eaten?

I say 7 because a 7/7 of the the got eaten from 

the 8 pieces of cake.

What I learnt from this task was that you could divide it into halves and Icould get the answer.

I reallyhope you enjoy what I learnt and how I solved the answer.
